Seven homes off Corner Road and nine at Pipps Hill Farm lead 30 new Basildon applications. Plus a Laindon drive-through refit and a Wickford showroom demolition.

Two small housing schemes in Ramsden Crays parish, 16 homes between them, are the biggest new applications in Basildon borough this fortnight. Both are on the edge of the countryside between Wickford and Billericay.

Basildon Council validated 30 applications in the weeks beginning 28 September and 5 October, according to the weekly lists on its planning register, read on Saturday 10 October. Most are extensions, certificates and details needed under earlier permissions.

The ones to know about

  • Seven homes off Corner Road, Ramsden Crays. A full application seeks seven houses on land east of Corner Road, with access, landscaping and parking (26/01092/FULL).
  • Nine homes at Pipps Hill Farm, Billericay. The farm buildings would be demolished and nine houses built. The existing farmhouse stays (26/01069/FULL). The register places it in Ramsden Crays parish.
  • A drive-through refit at Harland House, Laindon. Rochford Kefco Group Limited wants new cladding, red LED strips under the eaves and a new “ash tower” on the High Road building (26/01067/FULL). A separate application covers the signs, including a neon sign, two digital ordering boards and a speaker post (26/01068/ABAS).
  • A car showroom on Runwell Road, Wickford, to come down. The owner has asked whether the council needs to approve the demolition of the showroom and outbuildings at 1 Runwell Road (26/01052/DEMBAS). No replacement is proposed in this application.
  • Work getting ready at 49 High Street, Wickford. Two applications seek sign-off of the construction and site waste plans at the Poundland building, under permissions 22/01720/FULL and 25/00443/FULL (26/01053/COND, 26/01054/COND). Plans like these are usually approved before building work starts.
  • Archaeology on the Laindon Road 250 homes. The developer of land west of Laindon Road, Billericay, has submitted its archaeological investigation details (26/01071/COND). We covered the 250-home scheme in August.
