Aldi's new Basildon store at Westgate Shopping Park opens on Thursday 12 November, in two units the council leased to it. Plus the nearest Aldi stores now.
Aldi’s new Basildon supermarket is due to open on Thursday 12 November. The store is at Westgate Shopping Park in the town centre. Aldi’s own branch listing on Neighbourly, the platform it uses for its store food donations, names the branch “ALDI BASILDON (opening 12/11/2026)”.
Basildon was on the list of nearly 30 stores Aldi said it would open or relocate before the end of 2026. The supermarket published that list in a press release on 2 October. Aldi said then that it had 1,092 stores.
Where the store is
Basildon Council owns Westgate Shopping Park. It says it has entered into a lease agreement with Aldi for Units 3 and 4. Aldi then set about combining the two units into a single supermarket.
The Food Standards Agency’s register already lists the new premises. It records Aldi Stores Ltd at Unit 3-4 Westgate Park, Fodderwick, Basildon SS14 1WP, awaiting its first hygiene inspection.
Work on the units began on Monday 1 June. The council said then that part of the car park would be reconfigured and used as a contractors’ compound, and that disabled bays would move nearby while work went on.
Cllr Alex Myers, the council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development, said at the time: “We look forward to welcoming Aldi to Westgate Shopping Park.”
The nearest Aldi stores now
Until 12 November, the Food Standards Agency register lists three Aldi stores in the borough:
| Store | Address |
|---|---|
| Pitsea | Unit C1, High Road, Pitsea, SS13 3DU |
| Wickford | The Broadway, Wickford, SS11 7AJ |
| Billericay | Queens Park Avenue, Billericay, CM12 0UA |
Westgate will be the first Aldi in Basildon town centre itself.
What it means for you
- Opening day: Thursday 12 November, according to Aldi’s branch listing. We could not find opening hours for the store on Aldi’s own site on 27 October.
- Parking: the store shares the Westgate car parks. The council now sets the tariffs there, and our parking in Basildon page has the current prices.
We will add opening hours when Aldi publishes them.
