Billericay's business district is a finalist for Best New BID and Best Event, for September's parade. Community Awards voting closes 6 November; winners in February.

Your Billericay, the town’s Business Improvement District, has been shortlisted for two national awards in its second year.

It is a finalist in two categories at the National BID Awards 2027:

  • Best New BID
  • Best Event of the Year, for National Billericay Day on Sunday 13 September

The winners will be announced at a ceremony in London in February 2027. The shortlisting was announced in a release published by Basildon Council on 22 October.

What the parade did for the High Street

The Best Event nomination is for the Community Celebration and Parade on National Billericay Day. The BID’s figures for the day are:

  • 34 organisations and almost 700 people in the parade
  • an estimated 8,000 visitors to the town
  • 23 businesses reporting trade about 156% above their usual figures

Those are the BID’s own figures, from businesses that reported back to it. The day was also covered on GB News. We set out the route and the road closure before the parade.

Who Your Billericay is

A BID is an area where businesses pay a levy that funds extra projects for the town centre. Your Billericay launched in January 2025 and represents about 200 businesses across Billericay High Street and the surrounding area.

The Best New BID shortlisting reflects its first two years. Its consumer social media channels, started from scratch, now have more than 11,000 followers on Facebook and Instagram and over 9 million views, the BID says.

Nikki Machin, BID Manager at Your Billericay, said: “To be shortlisted for not one, but two national awards is an incredible achievement for Billericay, and something everyone involved should feel extremely proud of.”

She added that National Billericay Day “was a fantastic example of what we can achieve when everyone comes together”.

Cllr Alex Myers, Basildon Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development, said: “Congratulations to Your Billericay on this double shortlisting. It is fantastic to see the work of the BID and local businesses recognised on a national stage.”
