22 companies registered in Basildon from 11 to 25 September, from a Southernhay café to eight building firms. Plus the local firms that went into liquidation.

Twenty-two new companies with a Basildon registered office were set up between 11 and 25 September, according to Companies House records we read on Friday. Building trades lead the list, with eight.

Two look like new places to eat. Hasuna Ltd is registered to 24-26 Southernhay in the town centre as an unlicensed restaurant or café. London Kebab Ltd is registered to a unit on Wrexham Road, Laindon, as a takeaway.

A company record shows that a business has been registered, not that it is trading. The list below gives each company’s name and declared activity, and links to its public record.

Local firms entering liquidation

The Gazette published these notices for companies registered or trading in the borough between 11 and 25 September. In a creditors’ voluntary liquidation the directors have concluded the company cannot pay its debts, and a liquidator winds it up.

  • WTM Finance Consultancy Limited, financial management, Billericay. Liquidator appointed 16 September (notice 5216854).
  • SDS Partners LLP, construction, registered on Hurricane Way, Wickford, with the address being moved to the liquidators’ office (notice 5215973).
  • ESPH Healthcare Limited, trading as FitFor, health and fitness, Billericay. Liquidator appointed 11 September (notice 5214596).
  • Cordery Construction Limited, building projects and finishing, Chester Court, Basildon (notice 5213658).
  • Diggins & Co Limited, estate agent, Heronsgate Trading Estate, Basildon (notice 5213622).

Resolutions to wind up voluntarily

These notices record that members voted to wind the company up. They do not say whether the company is solvent.

  • Specialist Ductwork Solutions Limited, registered on Crickets Way, Basildon, resolution passed 9 September (notice 5212712).
  • Swap Any Car Ltd, which formerly traded from Greenleas Farm, London Road, Billericay, resolution passed 10 September (notice 5213612).

We left out eight other notices that mention the borough only because the insolvency practitioner has an office here. None of those companies was registered or trading in Basildon, Billericay or Wickford.

  • If you are thinking of using a new firm, its Companies House record shows its directors, its registered office and, in time, its accounts. A few months’ trading history is worth checking before paying a deposit.
